Trees in Conservation Areas & Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs)

Trees within Conservation Areas or protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) are subject to additional legal controls. If you are considering work to a protected tree, formal consent from the Local Planning Authority may be required before any pruning or removal can take place.

At Maythorne Trees & Woodlands, we provide clear, professional advice to help tree owners understand their responsibilities and navigate the application process with confidence.

How we can help

We can assist with:
-
Assessing the condition and management needs of protected trees
-
Advising on whether consent is required
-
Preparing and submitting TPO and Conservation Area applications
-
Providing arboricultural justification to support proposed works
-
Liaising with Tree Officers where appropriate

A proportionate, retention-focused approach

Our advice is grounded in professional judgement and a strong preference for safe, long-term retention wherever possible. Where works are justified, we aim to ensure proposals are reasonable, defensible, and clearly explained, helping to avoid unnecessary delays or refusals.
